Mace Set to Join Wooster as Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Josh Mace is the latest addition to The College of Wooster Department of Athletics and Physical Education. He will be joining the team on July 7 as the head strength and conditioning coach.

"Josh brings a variety of experiences in both team and individual programming, training, and facility management," shared Amy Heasley Williams, Wooster's director of athletics and physical education. "Having a dedicated strength and conditioning coach on staff will help enhance the experience for not only our student-athletes, but also serve the campus well. Josh's philosophy that relationships and a positive atmosphere serve as foundations for success complements our department's mission. We are very excited to welcome him to the Fighting Scot family."

"Josh brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the highest levels of collegiate and professional athletics," added assistant football coach Zach Dennis, who co-chaired the search committee. "His plan and approach to building better athletes is going to be a big part of the future for all of our programs. As coaches, we are excited to see the development of our athletes both in the weight room and on the field under his guidance."

Mace is coming to Wooster following 18 months as the head team performance coach and site manager for Impact Fitness Systems. There, Mace led programming and coaching on speed, agility, and strength for high school and college athletes, organized the training facility, and led small- and large-group training sessions.

Earlier in his career, Mace secured an internship with the Buffalo Bills, working with the NFL team on administration of the Catapult tracking system, pre-training camp testing, and strength and conditioning sessions. Prior to that, Mace was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Absolute Performance where he led field drills for clients, ran the programming for assigned athletes, and led weekly in-service professional development activities. He gained collegiate experience working with the State University of New York at Buffalo football team. At Buffalo, Mace helped develop strength programs and assisted with the operation of the team's post-workout nutrition station.

Mace graduated from Buffalo with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and furthered his education with a master's degree in sports administration from Canisius College. He holds a certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
