The College of Wooster baseball team kicked off North Coast Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader sweep over Kenyon College, and pitcher Tyler Fugate was instrumental in both games, leading to his naming as NCAC Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Fugate, a senior, first picked up a save for the Fighting Scots during the lid-lifter, by setting down three of the four batters he faced in the seventh inning of the 5-2 victory. Then in the second game, he pitched the final 3.1 innings, allowing just one hit and issuing no walks, to pick up his first win of the season.

He also threw four scoreless innings against Rhodes College earlier in the week, giving him 8.1 scoreless innings and eight strikeouts in all.

The Scots (6-6) will wrap up their spring break action in Florida with three games over the next three days.
