Freshman Craig Day of The College of Wooster baseball team has been named Player of the Week by the North Coast Athletic Conference, the league announced Monday, as he reached base in 10 of his 14 plate appearances during doubleheaders against Oberlin College and Wittenberg University.

In Wooster's four games last week, Day went 5-for-9 at the plate to extend his hitting streak to nine games and push his batting average up to .339. He also drew five walks, scored five runs, and knocked in five RBI to help Wooster improve to 9-3 in conference play this season.

Most noteworthy, Day turned four of his five hits in extra bases, including a pair of home runs in Wooster's 10-8 victory over Wittenberg on Sunday. With two runners on in the top of the fourth inning, Day smashed a three-run homer to give the Fighting Scots a 6-1 cushion. He then hit a solo shot in the seventh, his fourth of the year, to help keep the Tigers at bay.

The Fighting Scots (15-10) will visit Washing & Jefferson College on Thursday, with the first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m.
