The College of Wooster jumped out to a 7-1 lead through three innings Friday and cruised to a 12-3 win at Baldwin-Wallace College in the northeast Ohio foes' non-conference meeting in Berea, Ohio.

Back-to-back doubles off the bats of Craig Day and Billy Farrow keyed a four-run second for Wooster (17-10). Farrow's two-bagger scored two, as Zack Vesco, who singled earlier in the frame, and Day came around. Farrow trotted home on an RBI groundout for an early 4-0 lead.

Baldwin-Wallace (14-12) tallied one in the bottom of the second, only to see the Scots break the game open during the top of the third. Zac Mathie, Johnathan Ray, and Vesco started it with consecutive singles for one run, then a passed ball led to another. A one-out Day single, followed by a wild pitch made it 7-1.

That was all of the scoring until the seventh inning when Ray roped a one-out double and eventually scored. After the Yellow Jackets equaled that single tally in the bottom of the frame, Wooster tacked on four in the eighth, which was highlighted by a Greg Van Horn two-run triple.

Keenan White threw six strong innings to pick up the win (2-2), as he yielded one run on three hits and struck out five.

Overall, the Scots pounded out 16 hits, including three apiece from Vesco (3-for-3) and Colin Meinzer (3-for-5).

Wooster continues non-league action against Case Western Reserve University (25-11) at home Sunday afternoon. The first pitch of the twinbill is set for 1 p.m.
