WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster managed just nine hits over 14 innings off of Kenyon College pitching on Sunday, as the visiting Lords picked up a pair of 6-1 wins to complete the teams' North Coast Athletic Conference East Division series at Art Murray Field.

Sunday's nightcap was scheduled for nine innings, but got called after seven due to lightning/rain.

In the opener, Kenyon (16-6, 5-1 NCAC East) tallied an unearned run in the second and then made it 2-0 on Nate Lotze's home run to lead off the third.

The Lords extended their advantage to four in the fifth when Wooster (10-8, 1-3 NCAC East) was unable to make a couple of defensive plays. First, it appeared that the Scots' left fielder had a bead on a drive by Kyle Hardacker, but the ball barely cleared him and instead of a third out, it wound up an RBI double. Mike Danzinger followed with a high blooper that somehow dropped between the shortstop and left fielder for another run-producing double.

Two unearned runs came across in the top of the sixth, as Kenyon went up 6-0 before the Scots put one on the board in the bottom of the frame. Zack Vesco singled for his third hit in as many at bats, this time driving in Billy Farrow, who had walked. Vesco had accounted for all three of Wooster's hits at that point.

The Scots added a couple of pinch-hit singles in the seventh, but could not crack the scoreboard again.

The story of the game was Tim Krahn, who did not allow a hit to a Scot batter other than Vesco through six innings of work. He struck out seven en route to improving to 4-2, while Steve Hagen was a bit of a tough-luck loser (2-2), yielding just three earned runs during a complete-game effort.

Game two played out similarly, with the Lords pushing across two unearned runs in taking a 3-1 lead through six innings. Then, they helped seal the victory with three in the seventh before the rain came.

Wooster's single tally came in the third. John McClain led off with a sharp single to right, promptly stole second base, and eventually scored on Craig Day's hard-hit, two-out single to third base.

After a quality start from Kyle Koski, who gave up just one earned run on six hits in six innings, Kenyon strung together a walk and three-straight hits to start its three-run seventh.

Mike Jeffers kept the Scots' off-balance for all seven innings, as he upped his record to 3-1 by limiting the Scots to just four hits, all singles.

Vesco combined for five hits on the day (5-for-6), while Day (2-for-3) was the only other Wooster player with more than one. Jesse Weiss and Andrew Dunn each went 4-for-8 in the sweep.

Wooster will play for a third-straight day on Monday when it meets up with LaGrange College (12-18) for a neutral-site contest at Xenia, Ohio, at 3 p.m.
