The College of Wooster completed a four-game sweep of Oberlin College this weekend, easing past the Yeomen 3-2 in Sunday's opener and then using a six-run fourth inning to roll to a 9-3 nightcap victory during North Coast Athletic Conference East Division action in Oberlin, Ohio.

Now entering the final week of NCAC regular season play, Wooster (21-11, 9-3 NCAC East) is tied for second in the East Division with Allegheny College (16-18, 9-3 NCAC East), and the two will play each other in a four-game set at Art Murray Field April 28-29.

The Fighting Scots got just enough offense to get past Oberlin in the first game on Sunday, plating single tallies in the second, third, and sixth innings. During the second, Johnathan Ray drew a one-out walk, then Billy Farrow sent him to third on a single, and Craig Day drove in the day's initial run on a groundout.

After the Yeomen tied it in the home half of the second, Wooster used back-to-back, two-out singles from Eddie Reese and Zac Mathie to bring home Michael DeBord, who had opened the third with a four-pitch walk.

Mathie made it 3-1 when he smacked a leadoff home run to the opposite field (left) in the sixth, and the Scots held off a late charge that saw Oberlin homer and single in the seventh before Zach Klein notched the final out.

Klein worked 4.0 innings of relief for the win (2-0), yielding just the one run and five hits while striking out three without a walk.

In game two, Wooster bounced back from an early 3-0 hole with one in the third, keyed by a double from DeBord, and then the big six-run fourth. That frame saw Farrow deliver a three-run home run, followed by the Scots loading the bases, all without an out being recorded. Ryan Miner delivered a fielder's choice RBI, Zack Vesco scored on a wild pitch, and Jarrod Mancine produced an RBI single, adding up to a 7-3 advantage.

That was enough offense for Steve Hagen, who after registering a save and a victory in relief during Saturday's sweep, threw a quality start. He went the first six innings, allowing just one earned run and setting down three on strikes without a walk en route to the win (6-2).

Wooster's leading hitters on the day were Farrow (3-for-8) and Mathie (3-for-4).

Before the Scots take on Allegheny, they have two mid-week games, starting with a trip to Heidelberg University (18-15) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
