The College of Wooster scored three runs in the fourth inning, four in the fifth, and four more in the sixth, keying a 13-4 decision over Allegheny College, and with the win, locked up first-place in the North Coast Athletic Conference East Division. Allegheny and Wooster were slated to play two Sunday in Meadville, Pa., but the second was canceled due to rain.

Already ahead 2-1 through three innings, Wooster (24-10, 12-3 NCAC East) started to expand its lead during the fourth as Bryan Miller, Jarrod Mancine, John McLain, and Eddie Reese strung together four consecutive singles. Miller laid down a bunt to start the frame, Mancine singled into centerfield, McLain legged out a bunt for a hit to load the bases, and then Reese ripped a two-run base knock down the line in left to make it 4-1. Later in the inning, Billy Farrow had a sacrifice fly for his second RBI of the game.

Allegheny (20-13, 9-6 NCAC East) got one back in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-2, only to see the Fighting Scots break the game open during the fifth. Craig Day started it with a solo shot to right field, his second home run of the season, and then Wooster took advantage of a Gator error with three unearned runs. They came in on a Mancine double, a Reese sacrifice fly, and a Zac Mathie single, adding up to a 9-2 advantage.

Scot starter Steve Hagen, who entered in relief during both of Saturday's games, threw a scoreless fifth and upped his record to 5-3 on the year. He allowed four runs during 5.2 innings, but two were after Wooster had built an 11-run margin.

Mancine (2-for-3), McLain (2-for-4), Mathie (2-for-2), Day (2-for-5), and Miller (2-for-4) combined for 10 of the Scots' 14 hits during the game.

Wooster has a pair of home mid-week non-conference games, John Carroll University (23-12) on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and Heidelberg University (19-17) on Wednesday at 4 p.m., before hosting an opponent to be announced as part of the NCAC Crossover Weekend May 4-5.
