Saran Earns Second Career NCBWA Honor

Nanak Saran

Junior Nanak Saran of The College of Wooster earned honorable mention pitcher-of-the-week recognition from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced on Wednesday.

Saran, the reining North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week, didn't allow a run in his 14 innings of work last week, and that stretch included an eight-inning, complete-game shutout against Ohio Wesleyan University in the NCAC Crossover Series. Against the Battling Bishops, Saran allowed three hits while striking out seven during the Fighting Scots' 10-0 win.

In his other outing on the week, Saran was equally as effective during a 5-0 shutout against Hiram College. The right-hander worked the first six innings in the seven-inning tilt, and allowed five hits while striking out six.

Notable, this is the second time in his career Saran's earned weekly recognition from the NCBWA, and he joins classmate Jake Fling as honorees from this season.

Wooster (32-8, 17-2 NCAC East Division), ranked ninth in the D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25, opens play at the NCAC Tournament against Denison University (29-10, 13-6) at 3 p.m. on Thursday at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio.
