The College of Wooster baseball team fielded the American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award in recognition of the Fighting Scots holding over a 3.0 combined grade-point average for the 2016-17 academic year, the coaches organization announced last week. Wooster was one of 59 Div. III programs to maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average for the year.
Recent graduates Michael Houdek and Ryan Ostendorf led the way for the Fighting Scots as the duo both earned North Coast Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll certificates and graduated with over a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average. Additionally, Houdek and soon-to-be junior Michael Wielansky were both voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District® team earlier this spring.
