Senior Jake Fling tied The College of Wooster's single-game record with six runs scored, the fourth of which marked the centerfielder's 200th for his career, and the second-ranked Fighting Scots put on another offensive clinic during a 24-14 win over Muskingum University on Friday afternoon at Mose Morehead Field in New Concord, Ohio. With the victory, Wooster extended its winning streak to 18.

Fling reached safely in his first five plate appearances on the afternoon, the third of which ended with a two-run round tripper out to left field that made it a 10-0 game in the top of the third inning. Two innings later, Fling laced a single to load the bases during a three-run inning, and he eventually scored on a RBI groundout by senior Drew Tornow. Noteworthy, Fling became the eighth Scot (23-3) great to score 200 runs in the fifth inning, and his base knock moved the centerfielder past W Association Hall of Famer Trevor Urban for seventh all-time in program history.

Fling finished the day at 235 hits, thanks to a ninth-inning double. He later scored in the inning for his sixth run of the game, and in doing so, matched former Wooster great Stu Beath's single-game program benchmark that was set against Heidelberg University on March 8, 2009. Additionally, Fling's the fifth student-athlete in North Coast Athletic Conference history to score six runs in a game.

Leading 10-0, Wooster extended its lead to 13 in the fifth inning. In addition to Tornow's aforementioned RBI groundout, junior Michael Wielansky produced a RBI single, and sophomore Dan Harwood followed with a RBI groundout.

The Scots added four more runs in the sixth inning thanks to timely execution. The first run of the inning was forced in when Fling drew a bases-loaded walk. Then, Wielansky knocked in his third of five runs in the contest with a RBI groundout, and Harwood plated his third run with a sacrifice fly.

In the seventh inning, the Scots started to tee off on the Fighting Muskies' pitching. Junior Chandler Dippman laced a RBI two-bagger out to right field three batters before Wielansky cleared the left-field fence with a two-run homer.

Wooster's big bats kept booming in the eighth inning, as Crum led off the frame with his seventh homer of the year, and two batters later, sophomore Nick Strausbaugh hit a solo shot for his third "touch-them-all" of the season.

Wooster scored twice more in the ninth thanks to back-to-back two-baggers by Fling and Wielansky. Wielansky later scored on a wild pitch.

Dippman and Wielansky joined Fling with five-hit games, and the trio combined for 13 runs and 11 RBI. Harwood's three RBI upped his season haul to 50, while Crum's RBI count climbed to 48.

Other stats to note include junior Jacob Stuursma upping his hitting streak to 18 games, and sophomore Dan Gail's two doubles.

Junior Wyatt Linde picked up his first win of the season with 1 1/3 innings of relief in support of first-year starter Andrew Hill.

Matt Stewart led the way for Muskingum. The right fielder went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs.

Wooster (10-0 NCAC) hosts Allegheny College (11-14, 5-4 NCAC) on Saturday in a noon twin bill at Art Murray Field.
