APPLETON, Wis. – On the eve of the start of the NCAA Div. III Championships, The College of Wooster's Chandler Dippman, Dan Harwood, and Michael Wielansky were announced as All-Americans by the American Baseball Coaches Association during Thursday evening's opening ceremony at Fox Cities Stadium. Wielansky was a first-team selection while Dippman and Harwood earned second-team accolades. Wielansky and Harwood also earned All-America accolades from the popular online website D3baseball.com, as announced on Wednesday, with Wielansky collecting a first-team certificate and Harwood earning second-team status.

Wielansky, a repeat selection as a first-teamer by the ABCA, joined exclusive company, as the junior shortstop's just the third Fighting Scot in program history to earn first-team All-America honors from the coaches association in back-to-back seasons. The previous two Wooster greats to do so were W Association Hall of Famers Rick Sforzo (1985-86) and Matthew Jackson (1996-97).

The Scots' junior shortstop is just the second known player in Div. III history to amass 200 career hits, 200 career runs, and 150 career RBI before the end of his junior year. Entering the championships, Wielansky's tops in Div. III with 76 runs, and he's 11th in hits (78), 14th in walks (39), and 65th in average (.411).

Harwood, the second designated hitter in program history to earn All-America honors from the ABCA as well as D3baseball.com, exploded onto the scene from the get-go in his first full season as a starter. In the season-opener, Harwood went 4-for-4 with four RBI, three runs, and a pair of homers. The smooth-swinging left-hander has played a variety of roles this season, but spent a majority of it at designated hitter. He's second nationally in RBI with 72 and fifth in round trippers with 14 entering the Div. III Championships. On the year, Harwood's slashing .382/.461/.710.

Dippman, who earned his first All-America honor, did so as a utility player, and he's the first student-athlete in program history to be recognized nationally under that designation. Dippman's unbeaten on the year with an 8-0 record and sports a North Coast Athletic Conference-leading 2.06 ERA. Dippman's logged 65 2/3 innings on the year and has held the opposition to a .265 average. Offensively, Dippman's slash line is at .314/.410/.400 entering the Div. III Championships and he's logged new career-highs in hits, runs, and RBI this season.

Wooster (40-8) opens play at the Div. III Championships against Texas Lutheran University (38-9) with first pitch set for approximately 8:45 p.m. ET/7:45 p.m. CT on Friday.
