ABCA Coach of the Year Release

For the sixth time during his storied career, The College of Wooster's Tim Pettorini was selected as the American Baseball Coaches Association's Mideast Region Coach of the Year, as announced by the organization this week.

This season, Pettorini's Fighting Scots won the Mideast Regional for the sixth time in program history, and returned to the Div. III Championships for the first time since 2009. Leading up to the magical May, Wooster won 20 straight games from March 21 through April 21 – the second-longest such streak during Pettorini's tenure. Additionally, Wooster was ranked No. 1 in the May 1 D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top-25 Poll, and extended its league-lead in North Coast Athletic Conference championships to 18.

Wooster finished the year with a 40-10 record, and the win total marked the fourth time the Scots tallied at least 40 victories during Pettorini's tenure. Wooster junior Michael Wielansky was named the ABCA Div. III Position Player of the Year last week, and three Scots were tabbed to the All-American team.

Pettorini was previously the Mideast Region Coach of the Year in 1989, 1994, 1997, 2005, and 2009.
