For the second straight week, a complete-game shutout turned in by a nationally-ranked College of Wooster baseball pitcher garnered the North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week award, with this week's honor going to senior right-hander Jay DiBacco.

DiBacco was nearly untouchable for the 23rd-ranked Fighting Scots in a 14-0 victory over 25th-ranked Denison University on Saturday. The senior fired a two-hit shutout and faced three batters over the minimum, thanks to junior catcher Michael Thomas throwing out a would-be base stealer in the first inning and senior second baseman Gabe Sherman, junior shortstop Tyler Chumita, and junior first baseman Colin Springer turning a game-ending 4-6-3 double play.

After allowing a leadoff single in the first inning, DiBacco retired 10 straight Big Red hitters. No Denison baserunner reached scoring position until the final inning.

DiBacco's honor follows on the heels of senior Evan Faxon's. Faxon tossed a three-hit shutout during Wooster's season-opening 1-0 walk-off win against Ohio Wesleyan University on March 20.

Of note, it's the first time two different pitchers from the same institution earned NCAC Pitcher of the Week honors in consecutive weeks since the 2016 season.

DiBacco, and his Wooster teammates, are set to be back in action against Hiram College at noon on Saturday, April 3 at Art Murray Field.
