Pett Homers in Georgia Finale

Nick Pett, Wooster Baseball ATLANTA, Georgia – The College of Wooster baseball team's week in Georgia concluded with a 14-2 loss at Emory University.

Wooster (9-8) was behind 3-0 when it scored for the first time on the afternoon. Sophomore second baseman Andrew McGowan led off the top of the fourth inning with a walk and moved to second on an Emory (13-9) fielding error. He scored on a second Eagle error, with that coming on junior center fielder Leo Widtmann's bunt single.

Wooster was within 5-2 in the fifth inning. Junior third baseman Nick Pett launched his third homer of the year out to right center. However, Emory answered right back with a two-run bottom of the fifth.

Emory took the lead on Blake Dincman's second-inning solo homer. The Eagles tacked on two more in the inning when Trevor McAndrews laced a two-run single up the middle. The Emory duo combined to go 5-for-8 with seven RBI and four runs scored.

First-year Noah Kasper (0-1) started for Wooster and took the loss. He allowed five runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Josh Zuckerman ran his record to 4-0 after allowing a run on one hit in four innings. He struck out six.

Sophomore left field Dan Hanson led Wooster with two hits. Wooster's other big positive came from sophomore catcher Grant Craig, who threw out two would-be base stealers. Wooster's catchers have throw out 8-of-19 base stealers on the year.

Wooster resumes its season on Wednesday, March 27 with a 4 p.m. home game against John Carroll University (5-9).
