For the second week in a row, The College of Wooster football team is home to the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as linebacker John Battaglia earned the honor for his efforts in the Fighting Scots' 27-24 come-from-behind victory over DePauw University on Saturday.

Battaglia, who played running back the last two seasons, has made a smooth transition to the defensive side of the ball this year, and his performance at DePauw was one of his bet yet.

The senior recorded a game-high 13 tackles (8 solo, 5 assists). He also went in on a sack on a third-and-long play late in the third quarter that led to a DePauw punt, and on the very next play, Wooster scored a go-ahead touchdown to take a 20-17 lead.

Overall, the defense allowed its second-lowest yardage total of the season in the win, and also continued its streak of two or more takeaways in every game this year.

Battaglia, who is tied for second on the team with 70 tackles, will look for another strong showing when the Scots (5-3, 5-2 NCAC) visit Kenyon College (4-4, 4-3 NCAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
