Zach Dennis, a five-year assistant on The College of Wooster football coaching staff, has been promoted to offensive coordinator and Sam Bauman, now with two complete seasons working closely with head coach Frank Colaprete on the defensive side of the ball, will be the defensive coordinator, Colaprete announced recently.

"It was an easy decision," said Colaprete, who had been the defensive coordinator as well as head coach. "They're two young coaches who have grown and I'm excited to see what they can do. They have a lot of enthusiasm and it will show in the way we play. Plus, having two great, smart guys like that to run both sides of the ball will allow me to be involved in the overall game."

Dennis has coached the offensive line and wide receivers during his time with the Fighting Scots while also serving as the program's recruiting coordinator. He helped design the offense that set five school records during the 2013 season, the most significant being an average of 443.6 yards per game.

Wooster will continue to run a fast-paced Spread offense featuring multiple looks.

Defensively, Colaprete is following through with his plan when he was hired – run the defense for a couple of years, then hand it off to an experienced assistant. Bauman, who has coached the linebackers, has learned the intricacies of Colaprete's 4-2-5 system, which helped lead to 28 takeaways (17 interceptions, 11 fumble recoveries) for the Scots in 2013.

In other staff news, Colaprete also hired Chris Scheidt, who helped Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to 7-3 records each of the last two seasons, including a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference co-championship in 2013. Scheidt coached the wide receivers and tight ends for three years there, and previously was an offensive quality control and recruiting assistant at the University of Cincinnati.
