Muntean Tabbed as NCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Week After Six Touchdown Saturday

 Gary Muntean

Six total touchdowns, including one with :44 remaining, in a thrilling 49-42 win for The College of Wooster football team landed sophomore quarterback Gary Muntean as the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Muntean totaled 442 yards of offense at Kenyon College, four yards short of matching Rich Judd's single-game school-record set in 1997. The signal caller accounted for 401 yards through the air – just the fourth 400-yard passing game in the Scot record book, as he completed 29-of-42 attempts.

More importantly, however was the go-ahead 2-yard plunge late in the fourth quarter, Muntean's second rushing touchdown of the game. Earlier, in the quarter the sophomore fired a 15-yard touchdown strike to Adam Coppock before hooking up with Tyson Vogel from three yards out to tie the game with 2:46 remaining. In all, Muntean threw four touchdown passes on the afternoon.

Muntean is the second Fighting Scot to be honored by the NCAC this season. Previously, Patrick Johnson earned the conference's weekly defensive honor for his performance against Allegheny College.
