Nick Flannery of The College of Wooster was one of five offensive linemen named to the Academic All-District Football Team for the second year in a row, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. As a first-team selection, Flannery will be considered for the Academic All-America Team®, which is set to be released on Dec. 1.

Flannery, who was a 2014 first-team Academic All-American®, is the Fighting Scots' starting center, one of the most important positions for their offense. He has extended his consecutive games started streak to 36, while helping Wooster's young offense, which includes three freshmen running backs and other inexperienced skill-position players, steadily improve. The Scots are coming off of a season-high 496 yards this past Saturday, boosting their season average to just under 300 (298.8 ypg).

A semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's 2015 Campbell Trophy, Flannery previously earned all-North Coast Athletic Conference honors as a junior left tackle and blocked for a unit in 2013 that set a school record for total offense (443.6 ypg), also at left tackle.

Off the gridiron, Flannery has accumulated a 3.96 GPA and is a psychology major, and he plans to pursue a Ph.D. in either industrial or organizational psychology. He was inducted into Psi Chi (psychology honor society), and also has been on the Dean's List every semester and a two-time member of the NCAC Academic Honor Roll.

The honorees were selected by CoSIDA among top players with minimum 3.30 GPAs from within Wooster's district (Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio).
