After a stirring 49-42 comeback victory last week, The College of Wooster looks to build further late-season momentum when it travels to North Coast Athletic Conference foe Hiram College (2-6, 2-5 NCAC) on Saturday, Nov. 7. Wooster and Hiram come in with identical records, which are a bit deceiving as they've both been playing their best football of the season of late. Prior to the Fighting Scots' triumph over Kenyon College, they played a near-even first half with No. 9 Wabash College, while Hiram has beat Ohio Wesleyan University 32-31 and Allegheny College 43-13 over the past three weeks, sandwiched around a 27-10 setback at traditional power Wittenberg University. Saturday's kickoff at 2,500-seat Charles A. Henry Field is at 1 p.m. EST.

On the Air: Wooster's football games are broadcast each week by commercial radio station WKVX 960 AM and are streamed live on wkvx.com.

Also, Hiram will provide a live video stream at www.boxcast.com/show/#/football-vs-wooster.

All-Time Series: Wooster has dominated the all-time series with Hiram, prevailing in 37 of 41 meetings (37-4). The Scots have taken each of the teams' 10 games since the Terriers joined the conference – 39-24 in 2014, 38-24 in 2013, 45-14 in 2012, 35-14 in 2011, 62-0 in 2010, 24-17 in 2007, 52-0 in 2006, 59-17 in 2005, 59-0 in 2004, 28-10 in 2001, and 33-14 in 2000.

Last Week: Gary Muntean (Poland, Ohio / Struthers), who passed for more than 400 yards, scored on a two-yard touchdown run with :44 remaining that put Wooster ahead of Kenyon 49-42, and the Fighting Scots hung on for a thrilling NCAC win in a game that they trailed by 14 points midway through the fourth quarter in Gambier, Ohio.

It was not looking good for Wooster, when Kenyon scored a touchdown for a fourth time during a five-possession stretch while taking a 42-28 lead at the 7:54 mark of the fourth.

Muntean, though, quickly engineered the Scots down field on a 7-play, 62-yard drive, capped by a 15-yard touchdown pass to Adam Coppock (Columbiana, Ohio / Crestview).

The Wooster defense carried over the momentum, forcing a three-and-out, however, the Lords pinned the offense back at the 13 via a 52-yard net punt. Muntean and the Scots again put together a series of big plays for a quick 11-play, 87-yard touchdown march, with the quarterback finding Tyson Vogel (Ashland, Ohio / Ashland) in the end zone from three yards out to tie the game with 2:46 remaining.

On the next play from scrimmage, Kenyon completed a short pass where Marcus Bowers (Roseville, Mich. / Fraser) and Patrick Johnson (Homewood, Ill. / Homewood-Flossmoor) were there to meet the receiver and strip the ball from him, with Johnson also recovering the fumble at the Lords' 41.

Muntean and the offense went to work again. On 2nd-and-8 from the 39, Vogel hauled in a 28-yard pass down the right side, and from there, Muntean used his legs, weaving his way for nine yards to the two and then taking it up the middle himself for the game-winner.

Muntean's heroics came during a reserve role. He entered for injured starter David Smith (Upper Arlington, Ohio / Upper Arlington) the very first series, and went on to total 442 yards of offense – the second-most in school history –on 401 passing and 41 rushing. It was just the fourth 400-yard passing game in the Wooster record book, as he completed 29-of-42 attempts.

Muntean's top targets were Coppock, who caught 11 for 118 yards (career highs in each), Russell Boston (Renton, Wash. / Liberty), who turned seven receptions into 94 yards and a TD, Dan Gorzynski (Kendall Park, N.J. / South Brunswick), who had five for 93 yards, and Vogel, who came down with six for 83 yards, including the two scores.

The only touchdown Muntean was not a part of came in the second quarter. After the Lords gained a 14-7 lead, Derrick Florence II (Jacksonville, Fla. / Paxon School) brought back the ensuing kickoff 89 yards for a highlight-reel touchdown. It marked the Scots' first kickoff return for a score since Girard Ogletree-Crawford in 2010.

This and That: Wooster entered the 2015 season with an inexperienced team – just seven returning starters (3 on offense, 4 on defense) – and complicating matters, the Scots have been bitten by the injury bug this year, as it has 39 games lost to injury (and counting), defined as games missed by projected starters ... Wooster senior defensive end Stephen McKinney (Lampasas, Texas / Lampasas) is climbing the school's career sacks' list, as he now has 15.5, tied for the ninth-most. With 3.0 more, McKinney would move into the top-five.
