Ulmer Named a Semifinalist for NFF’s Prestigious Campbell Trophy

NFF Campbell Trophy Semifinalist Release

Todd Ulmer, a senior defensive lineman at The College of Wooster, has been selected as a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's 2016 Campbell Trophy, college football's premier scholar-athlete award, as announced by the NFF & College Hall of Fame on Wednesday and presented by Fidelity Investments®.

There are 156 semifinalists nationwide cover all levels of college football (NCAA FBS, FCS, Div. II, Div. III, and NAIA), and that group will be narrowed down to 12-14 finalists on Nov. 1. Each of the finalists receives an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class and travels to New York City for the NFF Annual Awards Dinner Dec. 6.

Ulmer, a four-year contributor to the football team, is currently a starting defensive tackle. The senior has started on both the defensive and offensive lines during his career and has a combined 23 starts (13 at defensive tackle, 10 at center).

Academically, Ulmer sports a 3.50 grade-point average, while majoring in chemistry. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in orthopedic surgery.

During his limited free time, Ulmer has volunteered for a variety of causes, including serving as the president of Men Working for Change, a group of male student-athletes on campus who strives to educate others on the prevention of sexual assault and domestic violence on campus and in the community.
