National Football Foundation Hampshire Society Release

Seniors Nate Huwar and Todd Ulmer of The College of Wooster football team have been granted membership in the 2017 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, the NFF announced on Wednesday.

The Hampshire Honor Society is annually made up of seniors from all collegiate divisions who were a starter or significant contributor and achieved a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade-point average.

Huwar, an English major (education minor) with a 3.40 GPA, started his career on the defensive side of the ball before settling in as the starting tight end and capping his career with all-conference honors. As a senior, Huwar ranked second on the team with 30 receptions and was one of 10 student-athletes on the roster with at least 20 receptions and at least 200 receiving yards. Huwar hauled in seven receptions for 49 yards over the last two games of the season, and had a 7-catch, 52-yard evening versus Allegheny College during Wooster's first win of the season.

Ulmer, a chemistry major with a 3.55 GPA, recently earned a postgraduate scholarship from the Mike Cleary Northeastern Ohio Chapter of the NFF. Ulmer, who was a semifinalist for the prestigious NFF William V. Campbell Trophy, made 29 career starts while appearing in all 40 games during his career. The versatile lineman played three seasons on the defensive line where he logged 55 career tackles, and spent his sophomore year as the team's starting center, helping the team average 385.6 yards per game.
