Lewis' Key Receptions Earn Sophomore Tight End Spot on D3football.com Team-of-the-Week

Jacob Lewis

The College of Wooster's Jacob Lewis was named to the D3football.com Team-of-the-Week, presented by Scoutware, for his outstanding performance during Wooster's 49-35 win over Allegheny College on Saturday, the popular online website announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Lewis turned his four catches into 90 yards and a touchdown – his third of the season – during Wooster's win. The tight end played a key role in helping Wooster avoid an early turnover on downs as the Scots went for it on fourth-and-2 from their own 35-yard line on the game's opening possession. Senior quarterback Gary Muntean connected with the sophomore for the 15-yard chain-moving play.

On the next drive, Lewis played a key role in tying the score at seven with receptions of 26 and 39 yards, the latter of which went for Lewis' third receiving touchdown of the season.

Lewis later added a 10-yard reception on third down late in the fourth quarter to help wrap up Wooster's first 2-0 start since 2008.

Lewis, and his Wooster (1-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) teammates host Ohio Wesleyan University (0-1, 0-0 NCAC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
