The College of Wooster (3-2, 2-2 North Coast Athletic Conference) remains at home fresh off of its bye week to host Oberlin College (2-3, 1-3 NCAC) in Saturday's contest at John P. Papp Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m.

Wooster is looking to get back on track after back-to-back losses to the conference's two Indiana institutions, most recently a 33-28 setback on Sept. 30 to then-No. 25 Wabash College in an absolute thriller at John P. Papp Stadium. Oberlin is also looking to snap its losing skid, currently at three games. The Yeomen are coming off a 26-10 loss at DePauw University last Saturday.

All-Time Series: Wooster leads the all-time series that dates back to 1903 68-23-2. Two years ago, Oberlin topped Wooster 28-23 at John P. Papp Stadium for the Yeomen's first win in the series since 2003 and first win in Wooster since 1984. The Scots have dominated the series of late though winning 23 of the last 25 meetings, and in fact, the 68 wins mark the most by Wooster over a single opponent in program history.

Last Meeting: On Oct. 15, 2016, Christian Santos (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood Senior), who just switched over to the defensive backfield from wide receiver, intercepted an Oberlin pass at Wooster's 15-yard line with just over 2:30 remaining, and the Scots' defense shut down one final Yeomen drive as Wooster rallied back to win 34-30 at Oberlin. Wooster trailed 30-27 after an Oberlin 26-yard field goal with 12:42 remaining in the game, but retook the lead two drives later thanks to a 10-yard touchdown run by Brandon Adams that capped a 7-play, 81-yard drive.

Offense Notes: Senior Gary Muntean (Poland, Ohio/Struthers) enters the week seventh in Div. III with a 182.2 passing efficiency, 10th with 17 passing touchdowns, and 12th with 318.2 passing yards per game. In fact, Muntean's 17 passing touchdowns are four shy of W Association Hall of Famer Rich Judd's 21 from 1997 that ranks atop the program's single-season record lists. Muntean enters play Saturday at 7,339 career yards of total offense, and could surpass alumnus Austin Holter's 7,459 yards for second on the program's all-time list in the Oberlin contest. Richard Barnes is still well ahead of where Muntean's currently at as the former Scot great amassed 8,832 yards of total offense between 2010-14. With 279 more yards passing, Muntean would join Barnes (7,306) and Judd (7,150) as the only 7,000-yard passers in program history. Sophomore Nick Strausbaugh (Fredericksburg, Ohio/Waynedale) is 62 yards shy of a single-season top-10 mark in program history with five games to go, and his next receiving touchdown will move Strausbaugh into a top-10 spot on the program's single-season list in that stat. In fact, Strausbaugh is believed to be the first receiver in program history with four consecutive 100-yard receiving games. Wooster's logged eight passes of 40 or more yards this season, five of which have gone for touchdowns after only having six and two respectively all of last year.

Defense Notes: Wooster now has two student-athletes with multiple interceptions on the year after Santos logged a pair in the Wabash game. Senior Patrick Johnson (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) had two in the season-opener versus Bluffton University. In fact, Wooster's defense now has six interceptions on the year, all of which have come at home. Ironically, Wooster's recovered two fumbles and both of those have come on the road. Santos continues to lead the team in tackles with 41 on the year, and he's been the Scots' primary run-stopper with a team-high 23 tackles coming in run support. First-year Danté Fair (Pataskla, Ohio/Watkins Memorial) isn't that far behind Fair with 38 tackles on the year. In fact, of the six student-athletes with at least 25 tackles on the year, five of them are freshmen or sophomores. Sophomore D'Andre Brown (Atlanta, Ga./Benjamin E. Mays) continues to lead the defensive linemen with 26 tackles, a team-high 4.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks. Johnson and Santos have flip-flopped spots on this week's two deep with Johnson moving back to weak-side safety and Santos sliding out to the edge as a corner. Johnson's made big plays all over the field this year, and the two-time all-conference honoree is tied for third int he league with five pass breakups, while first-year Beau Greenwood (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) is right behind with four.

Special Teams Notes: Senior Trevor Bowden (Eatonton, Ga./Gatewood Schools) booted a school-record 78-yard punt during Wooster's loss versus Wabash. The punt pinned the Little Giants at their own 1-yard line, and after a three-and-out, Wooster scored on its first offensive play to take a 28-27 lead in an eventual 33-28 loss. For his efforts, Bowden won the fan vote for the HERO of the Week. Bowden's 3-for-4 on field goals this season, and he's a perfect 25-for-25 on extra point tries.
