Robert Alvarez

For the second week in a row, a defensive player from The College of Wooster football team earned a spot on D3football.com's Team-of-the-Week, presented by Scoutware. This week, sophomore defensive end Robert Alvarez earned the nod.

Alvarez, who was tabbed as the North Coast Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, made a living in Hiram College's backfield during Wooster's 58-25 win on Saturday. Alvarez broke Wooster's single-game record with 4.5 sacks, and overall, logged a career-high 11 tackles. He also recovered a fumble that gave the Scots possession at the Terriers' 9-yard line.

Overall, Alvarez is the third Scot to earn a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week this year, and he joins sophomore tight end Jacob Lewis (Sept. 12) and senior defensive back Patrick Johnson (Oct. 17).

Alvarez and his Wooster (5-2, 4-2 NCAC) teammates are back in action this Saturday at Kenyon College (0-7, 0-6). Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
