Strausbaugh Earns Spot on D3football.com Team-of-the-Week

Nick Strausbaugh

Sophomore Nick Strausbaugh's big day during The College of Wooster football team's 51-41 win over Kenyon College on Saturday afternoon parlayed into a spot on D3football.com's Team-of-the-Week, presented by Scoutware, as announced by the popular website on Tuesday morning. Strausbaugh's honor marks the third straight week Wooster's had an honoree.

In Saturday's win, Strausbaugh turned eight receptions into 212 yards and four touchdowns – all before halftime. The four touchdowns tied Wooster's single-game program record and bumped Strausbaugh up to 13 for the year, a total tied with Darrian Owens for the most in the single-season program annals. During the game, Strausbaugh surpassed 1,000 yards for the season and joined former Wooster great Richie McNally as the lone student-athletes in program history with 1,000-yard seasons.

Notable, the 212 yards rate as the second-most in a game in program history, and it marked the sixth time in eight games Strausbaugh's surpassed the century mark. He's now logged a touchdown in seven games on the year, including four multi-touchdown games.

Noteworthy, Strausbaugh currently ranks third in Div. III in yards (1,031) and touchdowns.

Strausbaugh joins sophomore tight end Jacob Lewis (Sept. 12), senior defensive back Patrick Johnson (Oct. 17), and sophomore Robert Alvarez (Oct. 24) as D3football.com Team-of-the-Week honorees this season.

Wooster (6-2, 5-2 NCAC) is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 4 against Denison University (5-3, 4-3 NCAC) with the "Old Red Lantern" on the line. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
