CoSIDA Academic All-District® Release

Seniors Jack Marousek and Patrick Mohorcic of The College of Wooster were voted first-team academic all-district for football by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), while classmate Clayton Geib was an honorary selection to the team, the organization announced on Thursday.

Marousek and Mohorcic now advance to the ballot for Academic All-America® consideration.

Marousek, who earned the honor in the Academic All-America® program's specialist category, carries a 3.58 GPA as a business economics major. A vital member of the team, Marousek served as Wooster's holder all four years of his career and also played quarterback. This past summer, he interned with Key Bank's real estate capital income property group in Dallas, Texas, where he gained experience in commercial mortgage lending for multifamily, office, and retail properties. On campus, Marousek's the comptroller of the Jenny Investment Club, a student organization in charge of managing an investment portfolio currently valued at $4.1 million.

Mohorcic's honor adds to a long list of accolades this season, most notably his spot on the 2017 Allstate® AFCA Good Works Team®. A political science major holding a 3.61 GPA, Mohorcic's academic highlights include his extensive involvement with APEX, Wooster's center for Advising, Planning, and Experiential Learning. Mohorcic's wide-range of professional experiences include a stint as a marketing intern at SchermCo, a social impact consulting firm that specializes in K-12 education. Additionally, Mohorcic's heavily involved on campus with the student organization Men Working For Change, a group that educates and advocates for the prevention of sexual assaults on college campuses.

Geib, who was an academic all-district honoree last year as well, carried a 3.79 GPA as a chemistry major. A standout student, Geib researched organic synthesis of lignin degradation products at the University of North Dakota between his sophomore and junior years, and earned numerous scholarships from the College's chemistry department, including the Herrick L. Johnson Endowed Scholarship. He earned the 2016 POLYED undergraduate award in organic chemistry. Geib passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 17.

Of note, Wooster's had at least one student-athlete on the academic all-district team in each of the last four years. Wooster's district is comprised of Div. III programs in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio.
