The College of Wooster football team is among the NCAA Div. III leaders in takeaways, and sophomore Beau Greenwood is one of the key reasons why. On Monday, the North Coast Athletic Conference tabbed the Fighting Scots' safety as its Defensive Player-of-the-Week in recognition for Greenwood's two interceptions during Wooster's 24-21 win over DePauw University.

Wooster, which had five takeaways in the game, logged its first on DePauw's opening drive. On that play, DePauw's Cam Haynes looked for the end zone, and Greenwood was able to close the distance for his second career interception

Later, Greenwood picked Haynes off a second time with just under three minutes remaining in the game, and Wooster leading by three.

The sophomore safety added five tackles and a breakup in the win.

Noteworthy, Wooster's now earned the league's weekly defensive honor twice this season. Previously, junior Robert Alvarez earned the award for his play against Bluffton University.

In the national statistical rankings, Wooster is currently 12th with 11 takeaways.

Greenwood and his Wooster teammates are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Wabash College (3-0, 2-0 NCAC). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
