D3football.com Team of the Week (Nov. 2, 2021)

The College of Wooster's Cole Hissong continues to make a name for himself, as the two-time D3football.com Preseason All-American earned his second D3football.com Team of the Week honor on Tuesday morning.

Hissong logged three receptions for 65 yards and two touchdowns, while only playing in the first half of Wooster's 51-14 rout of Hiram College on Saturday. The senior tight end caught a 24-yard touchdown pass to put Wooster up 16-0 with 6:06 remaining in the first quarter, and in the second, he added a 34-yard touchdown reception that made it 30-0 at the 13:44 mark.

Hissong's second touchdown marked his 13th, moving the four-year starter into a tie with Cameron Daniels (2008-11) for the most receiving touchdowns by a tight end in program history. Hissong's at 1,253 career receiving yards, trailing only Jacob Lewis' (2016-19) 1,468 when it comes to the top spot among tight ends in program history.

On the year, Hissong is leading the Scots in receptions (41), yards (586), and receiving touchdowns (7).

Hissong's other D3football.com Team of the Week honor came on September 28. He was tabbed that week following 10 receptions, 119 yards, and a career-high three touchdowns during Wooster's 34-30 loss to North Coast Athletic Conference-leading DePauw University.

Wooster's now had five selections to the D3football.com Team of the Week this fall.

Wooster (5-3, 4-3 NCAC) hosts Allegheny College (2-6, 1-6 NCAC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Prior to the game, the Scots will honor Hissong and their other 12 seniors.
