Mateo Renteria College of Wooster football The College of Wooster's Mateo Renteria was a record smasher during Saturday's 59-41 win over Allegheny College, and on Monday, the Fighting Scots' senior quarterback was selected as the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Renteria completed 38-of-51 passes for 506 yards and six touchdowns, with the completions, yards, and touchdowns marking new single-game program records. The senior claimed responsibility for eight touchdowns on the day, as he added 1- and 3-yard touchdown runs in the second quarter. Renteria's 550 yards of total offense marked another school record.

Renteria's 38 completions were spread out among six receivers. Three of them – first-year Bryant Douglas II, senior Cole Hissong, and sophomore Carter Warstler – surpassed 100 yards receiving, marking the first time three Scots had 100 yards receiving in the same game since 1997 against Oberlin College when W Association Hall of Famers Matt Mahaffey (4 receptions, 105 yards, 1 touchdown), Reggie Ray (5 receptions, 169 yards, 1 touchdown), and Brandon Good (7 receptions, 134 yards, 3 touchdowns) headlined the box score.

Renteria's record-breaking passing touchdown was a 26-yard strike to Warstler with 6:06 remaining in the game. He broke the Scots' single-game passing yards record on the same play.

On the year, Renteria's completed 199-of-308 passes for 2,775 yards and 26 touchdowns. He's second all-time in single-season program history in touchdowns and current ranks third in passing yards. Of note, Renteria's thrown at least three touchdown passes in seven games this fall.

Renteria was previously the NCAC Offensive Player of the Week on October 18 following a 28-of-41 performance in a 44-41 win at Wabash College. Renteria threw for 408 yards and three touchdowns in that game.
