Hissong, Renteria Part of D3football.com Team of the Week

Mateo Renteria & Cole Hissong College of Wooster football D3football.com Team of the Week (Nov. 9)

The College of Wooster's Cole Hissong has consistently been one of the top performing tight ends in all of NCAA Div. III this fall, and for the third time this season, he's the D3football.com Team of the Week's honoree at the position. Senior quarterback Mateo Renteria joined Hissong on this week's team, and it marks his second weekly honor from the popular website dedicated to covering NCAA Div. III football.

Hissong was one of three receivers to log over 100 yards during Saturday's 59-41 win over Allegheny College, in what marked the first three 100-yard receiver game for the program since 1997. The Scots' senior logged eight receptions, 103 yards, and two touchdowns. Hissong moved past alumnus Cameron Daniels for the most touchdowns in program history by a tight end at the 12:34 mark of the third quarter when he hauled in a 23-yard pass. Later in the third, Hissong did the toe tap just inside the sideline of the end zone for his 15th career touchdown, with that one coming from seven yards out. The 100-yard game marked Hissong's fourth of the year, and he's leading the team in receptions (49), yards (689), and touchdowns (9).

Renteria, this week's North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week, completed a school-record 38 passes (38-of-51) for a school-record 506 yards and program-leading six passing touchdowns. The Scots' signal-caller added 44 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, giving him a single-game program-leading 550 yards of total offense. Renteria broke the single-game yards and passing touchdowns record on a 26-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Carter Warstler with 6:06 remaining in the game.

Of note, Hissong is the fourth Scot to earn at least three D3football.com Team of the Week honors. W Association Hall of Fame running back Tony Sutton was a four-time selection, while W Association Hall of Fame linebacker Seth Duerr and defensive tackle Dan Terhune were three-time honorees. Hissong is the first of the quartet to earn the award three times in the same season.

Renteria joins Johns Hopkins University's Ryan Stevens as the lone two-time award winners at quarterback this season.

Hissong was on D3football.com's Team of the Week on September 28 and November 2, while Renteria's other appearance came on October 19.

Wooster's at seven D3football.com Team of the Week selections this fall.

Wooster (6-3, 5-3 NCAC) travels to Wittenberg University (6-3, 6-2 NCAC) for its season finale on Saturday, November 13. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
