Barrett Part of CoSIDA Academic All-District® Team

Lake Barrett College of Wooster football CoSIDA Academic All-District® Football Release

Junior Lake Barrett is one of NCAA Div. III's top performing placekickers on and off the field, and on Thursday, he was voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District® Team, as announced by the organization. Barrett will be on the ballot for Academic All-America® consideration.

The second-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection logged 71 points on the year, the second-most in school history for placekickers. He was a perfect 47-for-47 on extra-point tries, setting a new single-season school record for percentage. Barrett is the lone placekicker in program history to make over 40 extra points in a season without a miss, and he is one of three placekickers currently ranked in the top 220 in Div. III scoring with a 100-percent extra-point conversion rate with at least 45 attempts. The junior knocked 8-of-10 field goals through the uprights this fall, including a co-collegiate long of 42 last Saturday at Wittenberg University. His percentage is ninth nationally.

The Fred Mitchell Award nominee scored 15 points in Wooster's 51-14 win over Hiram College on October 30, marking his second career 15-point game. In that contest, Barrett buried field goals from 18, 35, and 35 yards out in addition to his six extra-point kicks. He made a career-best eight extra-point kicks the following week when Wooster dispatched Allegheny College 59-41.

The biology and education major spent this summer as a research assistant with the College's biology department. He is currently a zoology lab assistant working with a colony of strawberry dart frogs. He is also organizing specimens for the College's natural history collection. Last fall, he was a STEM Zone intern, providing tutoring to students in an introduction cellular and molecular biology course. He has also worked a summer camp for youth ages 3-8 and is actively involved in his hometown community by giving kicking lessons to local youth.

CoSIDA's Academic All-America® Team for Div. III football is slated to be released on Thursday, December 16.

Wooster went 6-4 this fall.
