Four Scots Part of This Year's Hampshire Honor Society

Julian Ballesteros, Kellen Calhoun, Eli Lohrey, Angelo Petracci 2022 Hampshire Honor Society Release

College of Wooster football seniors Julian Ballesteros, Kellen Calhoun, Eli Lohrey, and Angelo Petracci have been granted membership in the 2021 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, the NFF announced on Wednesday. The Hampshire Honor Society is annually made up of seniors from all collegiate divisions who were a starter or significant contributor, achieved a minimum 3.2 GPA, and have concluded their playing career.

Ballesteros, a biology major from Winchester, California, was a four-year letterwinner with the program. He was a reserve wide receiver who made his collegiate debut at Allegheny on November 9, 2019.

Calhoun, a biology major from Tipp City, Ohio, played in 29 career games and finished with 64 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and six sacks. The defensive lineman exploded onto the scene at Ohio Wesleyan University in 2018. In that game, Calhoun logged two of Wooster's nine sacks, with the team total ranking one shy of the single-game program record.

Lohrey, an education and history major from Hamilton, Ohio, was a two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection. He was voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District® Team for the 2020-21 academic year and started 36 of 40 career games, plus both exhibition contests during the 2021 spring season. In 2021, Lohrey was the starting center for Div. III's seventh-best passing offense and was part of an offense that ranked in the top-35 in Div. III in points per game.

Petracci, a neuroscience major from Youngstown, Ohio, capped his career with honorable mention All-NCAC honors. As a senior, the linebacker was a NFF Campbell Trophy semifinalist and was Wooster's nominee for the Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team. His 88 tackles led Wooster in 2021 and were the second-most in the NCAC. On the year, Petracci had five games with at least 10 tackles.

Of note, 25 Wooster student-athletes have earned membership in the prestigious society in the last seven years. Wooster's four selections are the most since the 2018-19 academic year.

In all, 1,559 players from 313 collegiate programs qualified for this year's Hampshire Honor Society.
