Trent Shaffer is in his third year as an assistant with the Wooster staff, following 10 seasons of coaching at local high schools. He’ll coach the defensive line once again in 2015.
During 2013, Shaffer helped groom an inexperienced group into one that helped the defense produce 29 sacks as a whole – 10 more than the previous year – and defensive end Stephen McKinney picked up the first of his two all-conference awards.
Shaffer, the president of Shaffer & Associates Insurance Agency in Wooster, most recently oversaw the defensive secondary, run game, and special teams at Triway High School – his second stint there – and prior to that was the defensive coordinator for three seasons at Cloverleaf High School (2009-11). Shaffer also spent time on two other high school staffs, Rittman and West Holmes.
At Baldwin Wallace University, Shaffer played a variety of positions – tight end, halfback, slot receiver, and special teams.
