WOOSTER, Ohio – After The College of Wooster peppered Earlham College with 24 shots to no avail, the floodgates finally opened as the Fighting Scots scored three times during a 10:44 stretch midway through the second half to dispatch the Quakers 3-0 on Saturday in their Homecoming game at John P. Papp Stadium.

Earlham's (2-4, 0-3 NCAC) goalkeeper Helen Titcomb did her best to fend off the Scots (3-3, 2-1 NCAC) relentless offensive attack, making 23 saves in all, but Julia Franceschi scored on a feed from Megan McGinley at the 47:33 mark, which made it 1-0 and kick-started a game-changing sequence.

About six minutes later, Franceschi notched her second goal of the game, this time off a Taylor Thorp assist, and then in the 59th minute, Kayla O'Connor took a pass from McGinley and rattled the cage to give Wooster its 3-0 margin.

The game was a lot more lopsided than the final scores indicates, as Wooster outshot Earlham 35-2 and held an 8-1 advantage on penalty corners. Thorp led the team in shot attempts (5), while O'Connor and Leah Prescott fired off four apiece. Franceschi's pair of goals were the first of her career.

The Scots will face a much stiffer test tomorrow afternoon when they host DePauw University (3-3, 2-0 NCAC) at noon.
