Kenyon College broke a 1-1 tie with The College of Wooster late in the opening half, then scored another pivotal goal early in the second en route to a 4-1 decision in a North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey game Saturday in Gambier, Ohio.

Taylor Thorp put Wooster (5-6, 3-4 NCAC) on the board first when she scored an unassisted goal exactly 11 minutes into the competition. It was Thorp's sixth tally of the season, putting her in a tie for the team lead in goals.

Kenyon (7-4, 5-2 NCAC) tied it 11:49 later, but it was Julie Freedman's score with just :30 before the halftime break that gave the Ladies a significant momentum lift. They carried that into the second, with Rachel Hall making it a 3-1 game less than five minutes into that period. Later, Kenyon tacked on an insurance goal.

The Scots, who saw goalie Meredith Farley gather seven saves, will attempt to shake it off as they head into a key set of home games against Ohio Wesleyan University (5-6, 3-5 NCAC) on Wednesday and Wittenberg University (5-7, 3-4 NCAC) Saturday. All three teams are likely battling for the fourth spot in the NCAC Tournament.
