The College of Wooster field hockey team got back in the win column as the Fighting Scots rallied to a 3-1 road victory over Earlham College on Friday afternoon at Darrell Beane Stadium in Richmond, Ind.

Sophomore Rose Taylor opened the scoring for the Scots (6-8, 4-5 North Coast Athletic Conference), while senior Leah Prescott tallied a second-half brace, including the game-winner, to lead Wooster to its second-consecutive victory over the Quakers this season.

However, it was the Quakers' Isabella Grasso who opened the scoring gates to give Earlham (5-9, 2-7 NCAC) a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute.

Wooster goalkeeper Lida LeVine did well to save the initial attempt from Maite Turlings before conceding a quick shot off the rebound to Grasso, who netted her fourth of the year.

The Scots equalized in the 14th minute as Taylor converted on a penalty stroke goal for her second goal in as many games.

Offensively, Wooster did well to pressure Earlham throughout the first half. The Scots tallied seven shots while LeVine recorded just one save in the opening 35 minutes.

Wooster came out firing in the second period, recording four of the first five shots in the half.

As the offensive momentum began to tip Wooster's way, Prescott stepped up with quick consecutive goals in the 55th and 57th minutes.

After a wayward shot from Erika Womack, the sophomore did well to regain possession on the ensuing play before dishing it off to Prescott for the game-winning goal.

Less than two minutes later, Prescott went solo as she tallied an unassisted goal to make it a 3-1 advantage with just under 14 minutes to play.

Prescott and fellow senior Kerry O'Connor stand tied for the team-lead in goals with seven.

Shot opportunities from Kerry O'Connor and first-year Harriet Sudduth posed risks for Earlham as the game entered its closing minutes, but 'keeper Camille van der Vaart did well to prevent any additional Wooster goals.

The Scots outshot the Quakers 15-12 on the day while coming away with a 7-6 advantage in penalty corners.

LeVine finished with three saves, compared to eight from van der Vaart.

Wooster returns to action on Saturday as the Scots head west for a 12 p.m. matchup with DePauw University (10-3, 7-1 NCAC).
