The College of Wooster field hockey team concluded its two-game weekend road trip with a 7-1 defeat to DePauw University on Saturday afternoon at Greencastle, Ind.

The Fighting Scots (6-9, 4-6 North Coast Athletic Conference) battled back to within one after DePauw (11-3, 8-1 NCAC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind goals from Kelsey Doerr and Maddy Burds.

Wooster senior Kerry O'Connor tallied her eighth goal of the season on an unassisted strike in the 18th minute to halve the deficit at 2-1.

The Tigers responded with two goals before the end of the half, as Addie Ball and Paige Berliner got on the scoreboard in the 19th and 24th minutes, respectively.

The Scots were outshot 16-5 in the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Lida LeVine finished the first half with seven saves.

Wooster made a goalie change to start the second period, as first-year Madi Thomas subbed in for her fifth appearance of the season.

Berliner made it a 5-1 advantage in the 44th minute for her second goal of the game and 14th of the season.

In the 46th minute, first-year Harriet Sudduth put a shot on goal off a penalty corner from junior Lauren Abbott, but DePauw 'keeper Sarah Foye did well to dismiss the opportunity. Kerry O'Connor corralled the rebound for a shot on goal, only to be blocked as the defense cleared the ball from danger.

The Tigers capped off the day's scoring with consecutive goals in the 61st minute from Tori Witteman and Corina Bourantas.

DePauw finished with 28 shots, compared to 11 by Wooster while both teams finished with 11 penalty corners.

The Scots return to John P. Papp Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 19 as they get set for a conference showdown with Ohio Wesleyan University (5-9, 3-6 NCAC).
