The College of Wooster field hockey team was once again honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, collectively and individually, for its academic achievement during the fall semester.

The program was bestowed the "National Team Academic Award" in addition to having 10 individuals recognized as part of the "National Academic Squad," including two student-athletes – senior Sarah McGrath and first-year Grace O'Leary – who were named "Scholars of Distinction" for upholding a cumulative 3.90 grade-point average through the first semester of the 2016-17 school year.

The "National Team Academic Award" is awarded to programs who average a GPA of 3.00 or higher during the fall semester. This year marks the 12th time Wooster has earned the team distinction in the last 13 years.

Along with McGrath and O'Leary, eight other student-athletes were honored as part of the "National Academic Squad" for maintaining a minimum 3.30 GPA during the fall semester, including junior Lauren Abbott, first-year Emma Hambright, senior Kayla O'Connor, senior Kerry O'Connor, senior Leah Prescott, first-year Harriet Sudduth, sophomore Rose Taylor and first-year Zoë Tuinman.

Of note, McGrath and Prescott ended their careers as four-year members of the NFHCA's "National Academic Squad."
