WOOSTER, Ohio – Sophomore Harriet Sudduth - last week's overtime hero as the goal-scorer - was on the distributing end of this week's game-winner in double overtime as first-year Kristina Miesel redirected a perfect pass into the cage in the 91st minute during The College of Wooster's thrilling 1-0 win over visiting Denison University on Wednesday afternoon at John P. Papp Stadium.

On the game-winning play, Sudduth worked the ball down the sideline and into the circle before feeding it cross-field towards Miesel, who snuck in behind Denison's (2-3, 0-2 North Coast Athletic Conference) defense, and only had Big Red 'keeper Kerry Lawler to beat. Of note, the goal marked the second straight game Miesel's scored a goal in.

Wooster (4-1), which improved to 2-0 in NCAC play for the first time since 2011, received another outstanding performance in goal, thanks to 17 saves by Katie Shideler. The first-year's biggest save on the afternoon came on a Denison penalty stroke by Michelle Kabaira in the 46th minute. On the stroke, Kabaira tried to sneak one in through the lower left-hand corner, but Shideler reacted in time to keep the ball from crossing the line.

In overtime, Shideler made a nice play on Denison's Charlotte Happel, who had a breakaway opportunity that was sent too straight and into the pad of a charging Shideler. That threat capped a busy seven-minute stretch for the Scots' first-year 'keeper as she made four saves in the first overtime.

Just before the end of regulation, the roles were reversed in terms of teams with Miesel positioning herself for the breakaway opportunity. Lawler spread out in time to keep Miesel's shot attempt from materializing into a threating scoring opportunity.

In the first half, Denison found an opening in the 14 minute with Shideler turning aside a pair of shots in advance of a critical defense save by Sudduth. Offensively, Wooster had a trio of good looks off of penalty corners, but Denison's defense blocked each attempt on its way towards the cage.

Right of out halftime, Wooster's defense faced an extended test with five Denison penalty corners. The Scots passed with flying colors, after eventually clearing the ball out in the 42nd minute after a trio of Shideler saves.

Denison finished with a 27-7 advantage on shots.

Notable, Wooster's win snapped Denison's nine-game series win streak.

Next, Wooster returns to the road for a noon tilt at Wittenberg University (3-1, 1-0 NCAC) on Saturday.
