WOOSTER, Ohio – In a déjà vu of the first meeting of the year, The College of Wooster field hockey team was within a goal of league-leading Kenyon College at halftime, but could not pull level prior to the Ladies tacking on a pair of second-half scores en route to a 4-1 win on Thursday afternoon at John P. Papp Stadium.

Kenyon (15-2, 12-1 North Coast Athletic Conference), which clinched at least a share of the conference's regular-season crown with the win, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when Katelyn Hutchinson roped a shot around Wooster (8-10, 5-8 NCAC) first-year 'keeper Katie Shideler.

Junior Katie Padvick recorded a defensive save in the contest.

Wooster first-year Sydney Schuster deflected in the equalizer in the 26th minute on a nifty play. Senior Lauren Abbott fired a feed directly at the cage from beyond the circle, and had Schuster not been able to get a stick on the lead-in pass, the goal would've been wiped off per field hockey rules on balls entering the goal untouched from outside the circle.

With just under four minutes remaining in the half, Kenyon's Gigi Guenther deflected in a cross from Molly Keen to put the Ladies back in front.

Just over 11 minutes into the second half, Hutchinson found the back of the cage for the second time of the day when she lifted a loose ball into the upper half. Just over nine minutes later, Shannon Hart rounded out the scoring.

Wooster's backline earned some good looks late in the game, but the Scots were kept at bay by Kenyon 'keeper Sarah Speroff. Sophomore Harriet Sudduth fired a shot off the penalty corner in the 61st minute that was knocked away by Speroff, and junior Rose Taylor navigated through the Ladies' defense for a one-on-one shot that was saved a minute later.

Kenyon outshot Wooster 20-12, but the Scots did have a plus-three edge in penalty corners. Both goalkeepers finished with seven saves.

Wooster closes out its season with an 11 a.m. home clash with Oberlin College (1-18, 0-13 NCAC) on Saturday. Prior to the game, the Scots will honor their two seniors – Abbott and Emma Roderick.
