ELMIRA, New York – Sophomore Caitlyn O'Connor scored twice, and The College of Wooster field hockey team defeated Elmira College 3-0 on Sunday to end their brief New York trip with a 2-0 record.

O'Connor scored in the 19th minute off an assist from senior Rose Taylor and again in the 56th minute of the second half. O'Connor had a two goal performance during Saturday's 14-1 win over Wells College and would score what would be the game winner in this one.

Senior Erika Womack scored unassisted early in the second half in the 41st minute. She now has four goals on the year after her three-goal game Saturday against Wells.

Womack, O'Connor and Sydney Schuster lead the team with four goals each through the first two games of the season.

Sophomore Katie Shideler recorded five saves for her first shutout of the season.

The Scots outshot Elmira 32-8, and 22 of those shots were on goal. Wooster also had 12 penalty corners to Elmira's three.

Wooster moves to 2-0 with the win, while Elmira falls to 1-1. Next up, Wooster will host Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday to open North Coast Athletic Conference play.
