Scots Remain Undefeated with Win Over Transylvania

WOOSTER, Ohio -- An onslaught of rain did not stop The College of Wooster field hockey team from remaining perfect on the season after a 9-0 win against Transylvania on Sunday.

Wooster moved to 5-0 as they prepare for nine consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference games. Transylvania dropped to 1-3.

Sophomore Caitlyn O'Connor led the way with a hat trick to bring her season total to a team-high nine. She kicked things off in the fifth minute with her first goal and later scored back-to-back tries in the 20th and 21st minutes. Sydney Schuster added the assist on the second goal.

Freshman Katie Agatucci made it a 2-0 game in the 15th minute as she scored off an assist from Schuster. Schuster then scored in the 19th minute as her goal and O'Connor's last two gave the Scots three goals in two minutes.

With a 5-0 lead at halftime, Schuster connected on her second goal of the game in the 40th minute for her eighth goal on the season. Senior Erika Womack assisted on both of Schuster's goals.

Freshman Eleanor Sudduth then got in on the action with goals in the 46th and 59th minutes - her first two goals of her collegiate career. Finally, senior Maeven Barry scored in the 63rd minute to round up the Scots' scoring. It was her second on the season.

Sophomore Katie Shideler improved to 5-0 as he made one save in the first 40 minutes. Senior Lida LeVine replaced her for the final 30 minutes and made one save as well.

Wooster outshot Transylvania 34-6 and took 12 penalty corners to Transylvania's four. The Scots are now 14-1 all time against the Pioneers.

Next weekend the Scots will host Denison on Saturday and Wittenberg on Sunday as they look to improve their 1-0 NCAC record.
