Goal in Final Minutes Takes Down Wooster

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Wittenberg University scored in the final four minutes and defeated The College of Wooster field hockey team 2-1 in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Saturday.

Flora Van den borne hit the game winner off an assist from Isabella Wagner. Earlier in the game, Wagner made it a 1-1 game in the 50th minute with an unassisted goal.

Wooster scored in the 32nd minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime when Grace O'Leary scored her second goal of the season.

The Scots had plenty of offensive opportunities with 25 shots. Wittenberg keeper Allie Purvis made 14 saves in the cage. Wooster's Katie Shideler collected four saves.

Wittenberg (4-9, 4-6) took 12 shots and took the penalty corner advantage 16-11.

Wooster won the first meeting 3-2 on Sept. 16, where Sydney Schuster scored all three goals for the Scots.

The Scots are now 10-4 overall and 6-4 in the NCAC. They travel to Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday for a non-conference tilt.
