WOOSTER, Ohio – More than $5,000 was raised for the Corey John Cline Fund on Saturday night in a special exhibition at Timken Gymnasium, as NCAA Div. I Kent State University's men's basketball team visited The College of Wooster. While the Golden Flashes won the game 76-59, that was secondary on this night.

The money, which consisted of $4,167 from ticket sales and another $1,000 donation from officials Chuck Bullock, Scott Gooden, and Ricky Smith, will go to less fortunate children in Wayne County, thanks to the fund set up to honor the memory of Wooster assistant coach Doug Cline's three-year old son who died in a tragic accident this past February.

Prior to tip-off, both Cline and Scot head coach Steve Moore spoke briefly, publicly thanking Geno Ford and the rest of the Golden Flashes' coaching staff, players, and support staff for their visit as well as thanking the officials for their generous gift.

As for the game, Wooster jumped out to a 21-11 advantage just past the midway point of the first half before Kent State rattled off an 18-4 run. The Golden Flashes were ahead 35-30 at the break.

In the second, Kent State bolted out to a double-digit lead, putting together a 14-2 stretch and went on to the 17-point victory.

Individually for the Scots, freshman Jake Mays scored 12 points and Justin Hallowell chipped in 11. Freshman Josh Claytor led the way in rebounding with eight, and also of note, Justin Warnes produced team highs of four assists and two steals.

Mike McKee had 12 points for the Golden Flashes and Brandon Parks tallied 12 rebounds.

Wooster will begin its season in earnest when it travels to Albion College next Sunday, Nov. 15.
