Franks Claims His Second NCAC Player-of-the-Week Award

Ian Franks scored a combined 52 points last week, including a career-high 33 at Allegheny College, to lead The College of Wooster men's basketball team to back-to-back North Coast Athletic Conference wins and pickup his second Player of the Week honor this season. The announcement was made Monday by the NCAC.

The Fighting Scots (11-4, 6-0 NCAC) trailed the Gators by 12 points Wednesday night with 16 minutes remaining in the game when Franks led a 13-2 Wooster run, in which he scored all 13 points, to draw them within one (46-47). Franks then scored the next three Wooster points, bringing his streak to 16-consectuive tallies, and the Scots eventually notched a 69-68 win.

Franks recorded his highest career scoring total, racking up 33 points, which included 24 in the second half, on 11-of-19 shooting and a 10-of-11 clip at the charity stripe.

Then in a conference tilt with Earlham College on Saturday, Franks again registered the game-high, this time scoring 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. For the week, Franks went 19-of-32 (.594) from the field and 13-of-15 (.867) at the foul line, brining his season scoring average up to 16.9 points per game.

Wooster has now won its initial six conference clashes of the season, but will continue to be tested this week, as they hit the road to battle Oberlin College (4-11, 0-6 NCAC) Wednesday, and then second-place Wittenberg University (13-2, 5-1 NCAC) Saturday.
