WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster, which maintained its No. 8 ranking in this week's D3hoops.com top-25 poll, created a season-high 16 steals and many of them led directly to scores, as 33 of the Fighting Scots' points came off of turnovers during their 86-52 win over Kenyon College in a North Coast Athletic Conference affair Wednesday night at Timken Gymnasium.

Wooster (16-2, 9-0 NCAC) went on a couple of significant runs to build a comfortable margin early on. After Kenyon (9-9, 3-6 NCAC) accounted for the game's first points, the Scots ran off nine unanswered, and later in the half, they added a 14-2 stretch, which resulted in a 30-9 cushion at the 8:01 mark.

The Scots made it a 52-25 advantage right before the halftime buzzer when Jalen Goodwin  connected on a 3-pointer. The opening 20 minutes saw Wooster with a 17-0 edge in points off of turnovers.

It was more of the same during the second stanza, with the Scots maintaining at least a 20-point lead throughout en route to the 34-point triumph.

In addition to the points-off-turnovers and steals statistics, Wooster shot 53.1 percent from the field (26-for-49), which included 9-of-19 3-pointers (.474), and limited the Lords to 32.7 percent (18-for-55). Kenyon did finish with a 38-28 rebounding advantage.

The Scots' balance and depth were on display. Six players scored eight or more points, paced by Kenny DeBoer's 15 as the sophomore finished 6-of-6 from the field for the second-straight game. Doug Thorpe only attempted three shots from the floor, but he contributed 13 points and a game-high four assists, all coming in the first half, while Xavier Brown put 11 markers in the scorebook to go with three steals.

Alex LaLonde tallied nine points and Josh Claytor and DeVaughn Wingard eight apiece, and also of note, Jake Mays collected a team-high seven rebounds.

The Lords' top scorer, Ikenna Nwadibia, hit his average with 16 points.

On Saturday night, Wooster will welcome Hiram College (10-8, 4-5 NCAC) to Timken Gym for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
