Doug Thorpe helped lead The College of Wooster men's basketball team to its 15th North Coast Athletic Conference championship over the weekend, and in doing so, was named NCAC Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

On Wednesday, Thorpe scored 14 points in the Scots' overtime victory over Ohio Wesleyan University, 74-67, and then Saturday, the junior guard posted his third 20-point performance of the season in a title-clinching victory against archrival Wittenberg University, 75-71.

For the week, Thorpe scored 34 points (17.0 ppg), while shooting 43 percent (9-of-21) from the field and 50 percent (5-of-10) from beyond the arc. He was also nearly perfect at the free throw line, making 11-of-12 attempts.

Thorpe is averaging 16.2 points over his last 11 games since being promoted to the starting lineup, and paces Wooster and ranks ninth in the NCAC with 13.6 points per game on the season.

The Scots will visit Allegheny College (9-14, 3-11 NCAC) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
