Guards Xavier Brown and Doug Thorpe of The College of Wooster were both selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-Great Lakes District Second Team, as announced by the coaches organization on Monday. Last week, D3hoops.com selected each of them second-team all-Great Lakes as well.

Brown wrapped up his sophomore season with averages of 13.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.2 steals, all up from his freshman year. He led Wooster in minutes played (31.0 mpg) and steals and was a close second to Thorpe in scoring and assists, while starting all 30 games. Brown's season highlight was a 35-point explosion against Wabash College Dec. 8, when he hit all five 3-pointers he attempted and 13-of-17 field goals overall, and he also played well in three NCAA Div. III Championship games, averaging 17.3 points and 6.0 rebounds.

After an injury caused him to miss the first two games and limited his effectiveness early on, Thorpe developed into the Fighting Scots' top offensive player. He ended up producing team highs of 13.9 points, which included 41.9 percent 3-point shooting (57-of-136) and 81.1 percent at the free throw line (86-of-106), and 2.5 assists per outing. Thorpe, who also averaged 3.0 rebounds and 0.8 steals, became a starter on Jan. 9 and averaged 15.6 points in those 18 games, which included five 20-point efforts. During the three NCAA tourney games, he made 11-of-19 3-pointers as part of a 16.7 scoring average.

The backcourt duo propelled Wooster to a 24-6 record, the program's 17th consecutive 20-win season (longest active streak in NCAA Div. III), and the North Coast Athletic Conference championship via a 14-2 league mark. The Scots then won a pair of games in the NCAA Div. III Championship before exiting in the third round (Round of 16) for the second-straight year.
