Xavier Brown achieved a personal milestone, then helped lead The College of Wooster to a victory over archrival Wittenberg University this past Saturday night, and for those efforts, he was selected as the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for men's basketball, the league office announced on Monday. It marks the second time the junior guard has received the weekly honor in his career.

During a 94-71 victory over Hiram College last Wednesday, Brown scored 17 points in just 23 minutes, which included converting a fast-break lay-up down the left side early in the second half that gave him career point No. 1,000. He became the 38th player in Wooster's tradition-rich history to reach that milestone.

Brown, with 12 points, was one of five Fighting Scots in double figures on Saturday, as they prevailed 69-62 in a match-up of top-10 foes at Wittenberg. Six of his points came during a three-possession stretch, an outburst that was part of a 26-6 run over the last 11-plus minutes of the first half and resulted in a 34-19 halftime cushion.

In addition to his scoring, Brown distributed three assists and produced four steals in each game last week.

This week, Wooster hosts Allegheny College (3-12, 0-8 NCAC) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., and will be at DePauw University (11-4, 6-2 NCAC) Saturday afternoon.
