WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster closed out the 2013-14 regular season Saturday night with an 82-53 win over Oberlin College at Timken Gymnasium, and the two teams will meet again to start the postseason as the same match-up will take place in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal round on Tuesday.

With Wooster (22-3, 16-2 NCAC) already having clinched the NCAC championship outright and Oberlin (7-18, 4-14 NCAC) locked in at the No. 8 seed, there wasn't much on the line, however, it was still a special game as the Fighting Scots celebrated "Senior Night," recognizing the accomplishments of Kenny DeBoer, Scott Purcell, and Doug Thorpe beforehand.

Once the teams took the floor, Wooster led for the majority of the opening half, eventually gaining a double-digit margin when Jalen Goodwin and DeBoer connected on 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions. That gave the Scots a 39-27 lead, and it was 41-31 at halftime.

Wooster maintained a double figure advantage throughout the second and sealed the outcome with 14 unanswered points – six coming on Dan Fanelly free throws – during a five-minute stretch that turned a 62-49 score into 76-49.

The Scots shot just under 50 percent from the field (.463; 25-for-54), outrebounded the Yeomen 43-36, and committed eight less turnovers.

As usual, Wooster featured a balanced attack, this time led by DeBoer's 17 points on 4-of-7 field goals and 8-of-9 free throws. He also distributed a game-high three assists.

Fanelly only missed one shot during a 14-point, three-steal performance, while Xavier Brown and Thorpe scored 11 points apiece.  Evan Pannell also reached double digits (10), highlighted by an explosive dunk early in the second half.

While Purcell was quiet offensively during his final regular season appearance at Timken Gym, he produced four steals, equaling a career high in that category, and also of note, Josh Kipfer corralled a game-high nine boards.

Jack Poyle provided Oberlin a lift with 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Tuesday's rematch will start at 7:30 p.m.
